Legal
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the CrimeScore API, dashboard, and embeddable map widget (collectively, the "Service") operated by OopsLab LLC ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you ("Customer") agree to these Terms.
CrimeScore provides location risk intelligence for US neighborhoods, delivered as REST APIs and embeddable map widgets. The Service may produce a 0–100 score, letter grade, sub-component breakdown, contributing factors, map layers, and bounded recent-incident context depending on your plan. The exact API surface, response shape, and rate limits applicable to your account are described in your dashboard.
You must register for an account to use most features. You are responsible for the accuracy of registration information, the confidentiality of your credentials, and all activity that occurs under your account. You must immediately notify us of any unauthorized use of your account or API keys.
You agree NOT to use the Service to:
The Service is intended as one input among many in legitimate location-risk-intelligence workflows (real-estate listing context, insurance underwriting modeling, geographic analytics). It is NOT intended for, and is not licensed for, the prohibited uses enumerated above. Customer is solely responsible for ensuring its use complies with applicable law and with the published model card and methodology (when available).
The Service is offered on tiered monthly subscriptions. Pricing, included quotas, and feature access are described on the Billing page in your dashboard.
Free trial. Free trials are currently disabled. If trials are reintroduced, any applicable trial terms will be shown during checkout before you subscribe.
Renewals. Subscriptions renew automatically. You can cancel at any time from the Stripe billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; no partial-period refunds.
Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, we may suspend or downgrade your access until payment is restored. Repeated failures may result in account termination.
Taxes. Prices are exclusive of any applicable sales, use, or VAT/GST taxes, which may be charged in addition based on your billing address.
You retain all rights to the addresses, coordinates, and other data you submit through the Service ("Customer Data"). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process Customer Data solely as necessary to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
The risk scores, grades, components, contributing factors, recent-incident summaries, and map outputs returned by the Service are provided to you under a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use within your applications. You may not redistribute raw responses as a competing risk or incident-data product, use them to train a competing model, or use recent-incident responses as a bulk export feed.
The Service, the underlying model, the dashboard, the embeddable widget, and all related materials are owned by us. Nothing in these Terms transfers any rights to you other than the use rights expressly granted.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no warranty that the risk scores will be accurate, complete, or appropriate for any particular decision. Customer is solely responsible for evaluating the suitability of the Service for its use case.
Recent-incident outputs are normalized contextual signals and may be incomplete, delayed, duplicated, misclassified, or unavailable in some areas. They are not emergency alerts and are not a substitute for official public-safety information.
We disclaim, to the maximum extent permitted by law, all warranties express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service is limited to the amounts paid by Customer to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to liability.
In no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost revenues, lost data, or business interruption — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Customer agrees to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from Customer's use of the Service in violation of these Terms, applicable law, or third-party rights — including any claim arising from a use specifically prohibited under Section 3 or 4.
You may terminate your subscription at any time via the Stripe billing portal. We may suspend or terminate your access for material breach of these Terms, non-payment, or actual or suspected use that violates Sections 3 or 4. Sections 6 (license to outputs), 7 (IP), 8–10 (warranty/liability/indemnification), and 13 (governing law) survive termination.
We may update the Service, including adding features, changing rate limits, or deprecating endpoints, with reasonable notice when changes are material. We may update these Terms by posting a revised version with a new "Last updated" date; for material changes, we will notify account holders by email at least 30 days in advance. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, and the parties consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver. These Terms are the entire agreement between Customer and us regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreement on the subject.
