# CrimeScore > CrimeScore provides modeled neighborhood Safety Scores for US locations through a REST API, an MCP server for AI agents, embeddable maps, PDF and CSV location reports, and a free public crime map. Scores run from 0 to 100, and higher is safer. Coordinates resolve to Census block groups, and ZIP codes resolve to Census ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs). The current release, with scores as of August 16, 2026, covers 237,711 scored block groups, 33,611 ZIP code profiles and 3,144 county profiles. Scores are modeled estimates of relative area safety. They are not official crime rates, guarantees, or predictions about a specific property or person. New accounts receive 25 evaluation credits, valid for 30 days, without a payment method. Score and Score Details use one credit per successful request; reports use 10 credits per successful location. ## API - [API reference](https://crimescore.io/crime-data-api/): Endpoints, parameters, response fields and errors for Score, Score Details, Nearby Incidents and Geocode. - [OpenAPI specification](https://crimescore.io/openapi.yaml): Machine-readable API contract. - [Interactive playground](https://crimescore.io/playground/): Try API requests in the browser. - [Crime score by address](https://crimescore.io/crime-score-by-address/): Center the public map on a US address; the authenticated API scores coordinates. - [Nearby incidents API](https://crimescore.io/nearby-incidents-api/): Recent reported incidents around a point, on the Pro plan. ## AI agents - [CrimeScore MCP server](https://crimescore.io/mcp/): Hosted at https://api.crimescore.io/v1/mcp, or run locally with the @crimescore/mcp npm package. A city that shares nearly all of its residents or ZIP codes with one county, such as Boston, uses that county's page instead. - [City sitemap](https://crimescore.io/sitemap-cities.xml): Every city profile URL. - [County profile](https://crimescore.io/map/county/harris-tx/): For example /map/county/harris-tx/ and /map/county/orleans-parish-la/. Parishes, independent cities, Alaska boroughs and census areas keep their suffix, so take exact county URLs from the county sitemap. - [County sitemap](https://crimescore.io/sitemap-counties.xml): Every county profile URL. ## Methodology and data quality - [Methodology](https://crimescore.io/methodology/): How scores are modeled and how to read them. - [Data quality](https://crimescore.io/data-quality/): Coverage, sources and known limits. - [Safety variation within ZIP codes](https://crimescore.io/research/neighborhood-safety-variation-within-zip-codes/): Original research on how much safety varies inside a ZIP code. ## Pricing and licensing - [Pricing](https://crimescore.io/pricing/): Starter $199.99/month for 500 API requests; Pro $699.99/month for 2,500 API requests; Enterprise by contract. - [Data licensing](https://crimescore.io/data-licensing/): Bulk data and contract delivery. ## Optional - [Blog](https://crimescore.io/blog/): Guides for developers and real estate teams. - [ZIP code vs ZCTA](https://crimescore.io/blog/zip-code-vs-zcta-explained/): Why ZIP code scores use Census ZCTAs.
